The association's "XIII Work Sessions & Administrative Council" took place on December 1-5, 2007, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. Alicia Alvarez Berkenwald, currently Secretary of the Patent Committee, represented our firm at the event.
The Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) was founded in 1964 in Acapulco, Mexico, with the objective of grouping IP professionals to study, promote and develop IP laws and to harmonize them in the Americas. Today it brings together over 800 practitioners of Intellectual Property from 50 different countries in 4 continents.

The Annual Meeting of the Association of Patent Law Firms (APLF) took place on September 26, 2007 in the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York.
Alicia Alvarez Berkenwald, Partner and Head of Patent Department of our firm, attended the one-day meeting titled "Intellectual Property Law Developments from the Inside Out".
APLF is an international association of specialty law firms that are devoted mainly to patent, trademark and copyright law.

| BIOTECHNICA 2007. |

For the first time ever, our firm will attend BIOTECHNICA, the largest and most important biotechnology Trade Fair, Partnering and Conference in Europe, which will take place from October 9 to 11, 2007, in the city of Hannover, Germany. Argentina will have a Pavilion of its own, and BERKEN IP will be part of it together with other companies from our country.
More than 950 companies are expected to exhibit their products and more than 18,000 professionals from 40 different countries (mainly Europe, Asia and America) are expected to attend.

| In-house Patent Workshop. |

On June 7-8, 2007, we carried out the first Patent Workshop at our offices. The Workshop was titled: "Fundamentals for drafting and construing a patent".
The program included the following topics:
- The Patent Document
- Patentability Requirements
- Presentation and Prosecution of Applications
- Chemistry and Biotechnology Patents
- Information Searches
- Analysis of Recent Legal Patent Cases in Argentina
The Seminar was conducted by four professionals of our firm. Among attendees were colleagues from Chile, Uruguay, Peru and also from Argentina. |
